Gonsalves In Malaya

Picture of Prime Minister Gonsalves receiving an award in Malaya. The man on the right,( Vinod B. Sekhar, President & CEO, The Petra Group ), is intimately connected with the Clinton Institute Jatropha project.

Jatropha Curcus

Bill Clinton's Global Institute is sponsoring a program that will grow Jatropha Curcus saplings on St. Vincent, send the saplings to Guyana to establish plantations, then bring the seeds back to St. Vincent to press out an oil that can just about be used directly in diesel engines. The project involves something like $300-million US. I'll write more as I figure out the details. Looks interesting, though.
My guess is, from what I've found on the internet, that it owes a lot to the Gonsalves charisma.

Return

We'll be coming back October 3: American Boston to San Juan and LIAT San Juan to St. Vincent. Can't wait.

Nelson Ho sent me this clipping from the Vincentian a while back, it is the new bridge over the Rabaca dry river. It will be nice not having to ford the river, particularly during rain in the mountains. We'll see how it holds up during heavy storms. It will make it easier to drive beyond Orange Hill.
